At our Spring Kiln Opening this year we actually have pots from two firings, some from a firing of the "new" glaze kiln we had in February (many of which we took to the Catawba Valley Pottery Festival), with their sumptuous dark green alkaline glazes, and some from our recent firing of the "old" salt glaze kiln, with their subtle gray and brown surfaces. I've been fascinated by these North Carolina regional pottery traditions for a long time, and it's exciting to now be making them both, here, in the same place, and to see so many lively colors on the pots in the barn.

Martin Simpson

My old friend Martin Simpson is visiting us once again, and has made some wonderful large planters. It's a treat to have him, and them, around.
